Most commercial buildings are built on structural steel framing. We can salvage and recycle all of the steel in your building and, in turn, save you money.

Steel recycling is just one part of the recent green demolition practices carried out by environmentally concerned dismantling and recovery companies like ours. To encourage reuse of all metals, there has been a significant increase in tipping fees at landfills. The effects of this have been beneficial not only to the environment, but also to the demolition customer who can recoup a good portion of his expense.

Prior to these increases costs, construction and demolition waste accounted for 40 percent of the volume going into landfills. That number has since been cut in half. This has reduced pollution significantly and generated attractive tax incentives.

Steel recycling begins with a phone call when you need to clear a structure and make way for another project, or to reclaim land for recreational or residential use. We will come out and evaluate the scope of work, including environmental issues and safety. We will then determine the actual content of the building and what portions can be given a second life. Most buildings can produce a tremendous amount of reusable material. We can salvage it and take it to our own facility or another scrap operation. We regularly sell recycled building materials to a large network of users.

Good steel recycling candidates include these types of structures:

• Office buildings. When these are being constructed, the amount of re-usable metal is evident by the cranes lifting beam after beam to the crews above.
• Industrial plants. Construction of these consists of much steel in support structure, overhead doors, sidings, conveyor equipment, etc.
• Towers. With their metal framework, these structures can have a very high percentage of recyclable materials.
• Steel buildings. Used for hangers, agriculture, warehouse and storage.
