Aluminum and Recycling

Aluminum and recycling go together in our modern lexicon. Most people take frequent trips to a special place to throw their beverage cans, while some rely on them as a source of income. TAMCO Construction recycles this material and other products from our demolition work and returns the savings to you to offset the cost of the job.

Aluminum and recycling come together in a process that saves resources, energy and money. We can help you show your stewardship of the environment and save hauling costs. Give us a call today if you are thinking about demolition.

Aluminum is a popular, multi-purpose metal that can easily be recycled from a demolition site. Produced from mined bauxite, the oxide is refined though a form of electrolysis called the Bayer process. It is far more costly to process ore that way then to melt down existing unwanted products and make them into something new. Aluminum is a high demand product due to its inherent properties of being lightweight, strong, malleable and corrosion resistant. It is used for not only cans, but also for aircraft, boats, construction materials and more.

When we are discussing aluminum and recycling we are referring to construction materials that we extract from the dismantling of your existing unwanted structure. Because of its high scrap value and great demand, we can quickly give credit back to the cost of your demolition project to recover some of your assets.

All buildings constructed in the second half of the 20th century have aluminum products in them somewhere. It may be obvious by the telltale brushed silver color or hidden by paint, anodizing or coverings. Rely on us to identify your recyclable metal and take the recycling burden off of your company.

Some of the aluminum and recycling products found in buildings include:
  • Window frames. Many commercial buildings were constructed with window frames and door frames of this material. They are often disguised with an architectural bronze finish.
  • Electrical cables. Often a couple of inches thick, these can be very long and hidden beneath the ground.
  • Gutters. Aluminum gutters are common on many buildings.
  • Ductwork. Ducts, vent and exhaust equipment are often mostly made of this metal.
  • Siding. Although more common on residential buildings, it is also found on commercial structures.
  • Roofing. This metal is widely used for roofing.

When disassembling a building, recovering and recycling aluminum can be done efficiently. Of all the reusable material we gather, this silver metal, pound for pound, has the greatest value. Copper brings a higher price by far than this metal but it is not found in such large quantities and does not make up as large a part of the total value as aluminum.

Aluminum and recycling is a type of asset recovery that is quickly replacing automatic landfilling of construction waste. The costs of disposal in landfills have become so high with myriad new fees, that environmentally friendly practices now make economic and well as ecological sense. Any means other than green demolition today would prove to be unwise. There is no reason for you, as the owner of an unwanted structure, to choose a path other than one that recoups some of your potentially lost revenue and promotes a healthier environment.

Let us show you how we can disassemble, separate and remove your unwanted structure in a method that is cost effective and safe for you, your community and the environment. Remember too that the more you recycle the more your will save. It is really that simple.
